For many years, one of the leading brands in the world of outdoor power equipment has been ECHO®. This Japan-based brand has gone global, producing all manner of different types of useful hand-held tools for general outdoor lawn and property maintenance, including hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws and brush cutters.

FMI Equipment in Spokane Valley is your eastern Washington ECHO® power equipment dealer, welcoming customers from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Spokane. Read on to learn more about what ECHO® outdoor power equipment can do for you.

History

The ECHO® brand name only came about in 1978 with the release of the Echo CS-80 chainsaw from Kyoritsu Noki, a Japanese company that had been founded in 1947 following the end of the second World War by the Asamoto brothers. The company manufactured agricultural machines and changed its name from the Kyoritsu Noki Company to the Kioritz Corporation in 1971.

Since 1978, the company has manufactured their equipment under the ECHO® brand name. In 2008, the Kioritz Corporation merged with another Japanese manufacturer, Shindaiwa Incorporated, to create the Yamabiko Corporation, which continues to manufacture ECHO® outdoor power equipment.

Equipment produced for the ECHO® brand is manufactured at plants in Yokosuka and Morioka, Japan, as well as Shenzhen, China, and Lake Zurich, Illinois, here in the United States.

Engines

One of the reasons that ECHO® outdoor power equipment is so powerful and sought-after is the company’s revolutionary two-stroke engines. These engines have been redesigned over the years as technology has advanced, resulting in lower emissions to meet EPA and CARB standards. This means that you get a high-performance piece of equipment that also takes less of a toll on the environment.

The company also has a line of battery-operated products that produce no emissions whatsoever and also have low noise levels and low vibration, giving you a better operating experience. These battery-operated products are convenient for those who don’t want to fill up on gas or worry about plugging anything in. Charge times can be as low as 30 minutes.
